Absences/Early Dismissals/Late Arrivals

Absences

Attendance is critical to academic access and success.  Unfortunately, some absences are unavoidable.  If a student needs to secure a prearranged absence, he/she will need to bring a note, signed by a parent/guardian, to the attendance office.  For unplanned absences, parents/guardians are asked to call the attendance office (896-5882) to report the absence.  Following an absence, the student must secure an admit slip from the attendance office before he/she can return to classes.  It is important that absences are verified.  Frequent unexcused absences and tardies will result in corrective action by the truancy team.  Only 5 noted from a parent or legal guardian for attendance matters will be accepted per semester.  The following exceptions are Doctor's note, Court note or legal documentation.
Early Dismissals and Late Arrivals

There will be no early dismissal by phone.  If a student needs to secure an early dismissal, he/she will need to bring a note, signed by a parent/guardian, to the attendance office OR the parent/guardian will need to come to the attendance office to check the student out.  Students will only be released to individuals listed on the emergency card or identified by the parent/guardian in writing.  For late arrivals, students need to secure an admit slip from the attendance office.  For safety reasons, students may not be dismissed from school during the last 20 minutes of the school day.
